Westfield Washington Township Fire Department Training

August 15th, 2008

Over the past weeks, Westfield Washington Township Fire Department has been training in a house that we donated to them for use. WWFD always takes opportunities like these very seriously, and spent many hours training for various situations in and on the property. Today was the final day for training on the property, with one final exercise where the house is burned completely.

Located on the north side of S.R. 32 at the Oak Ridge Road intersection, the property was purchased by our group in April of 2008 to be part of the Oak Ridge Pointe project. The house was built in 1892, and the years took their toll on the house as the property traded hands. We are proud to have served the community by giving the local fire fighting professionals an opportunity to prepare for all situations.

The demolition of the house serves as a marker in history to the changing landscape of the Westfield community. With the currently active upgrade of S.R. 32, to the imminent upgrade of U.S. 31, Westfield is changing from a small suburb to a vibrant city.
